Girls Gone Sporty!

This is a post I meant to write a few weeks ago, but as usual life gets busy and I completely forgot! That being said I am VERY happy to announce that I am a new Girls Gone Sporty  Ambassador! GGS is owned and operated by Laura Williams, a self-proclaimed "sporty girl" and her husband Lance Williams (an equally sporty guy), Girls Gone Sporty is dedicated to sharing the top products, trends and ideas for advancing the fit and adventurous lifestyle (source).

Being a very sporty gal myself I was really excited when Laura told me I had been accepted as an ambassador, much like the Sweat Pink Program, GGS is a great way to meet other like minded bloggers and athletes! Something in particular that really made me want to apply to be a Girls Gone Sporty Ambassador is that this is a community that really works to help women reach their fitness goals, not only through motivational support, but also through financial support!

GGS Grant Program:

In Laura's words: We want to provide sporty women with the financial resources to achieve their goals and dreams. That's why we developed our grant program. Some of these grants will be funded directly by Girls Gone Sporty, while other grants will be funded with the support of companies we love. Either way, we'll be providing at least one grant each month to a well-deserving sporty woman starting in November 2012.

In order to help generate funding for the grants, each month GGS has a different fitness challenge for ANYONE to participate in! This month it is Wicked Wallies! #WickedWallies are wall squats.  They enhance static strength in your glutes, quads and core, and even better you can do them anywhere you have access to a wall, which makes them an easy way to fit extra exercise into your day! I just signed up a few days ago!

Yes, I combined my love of fitness with my love of wine for this one

Best #wickedwallies time yet!

I am very proud to be part of another great fitness blogger community! You can keep up with all of the GGS fun by following Laura on twitter @girlsgonesporty! AND you can check out my Ambassador Profile HERE.

I am also proud to announce that my running has really been improving, I am finally starting to get my post hip injury speed back!  I also haven't had any hip pain!!! (I am knocking on wood right now lol) I am taking it easy, and really listening to my body to ensure I don't re-injure myself. I am trying to see my chiropractor periodically for some ART (Active Release Techniques) as another injury prevention method. Once my fractured finger heals a bit more, I am also planning on getting back into yoga I found yoga really helped me when I was training for my marathon last March.

What do you do to help prevent injuries?

Are participating in Wicked Wallies this month?
